That billboard was just put up today
Those lines on the road, painted last night
While you were sleeping, or when you passed by

To places I’ve already seen with my own two eyes
Places where I walked, where I ran, took a stroll, passed by
Rushes of the last few trains, the swerving of the last few buses
Lights of cars whiz by, yet from the distance, buildings twinkle like stars
Those who work in them stay still, while I move, inching feet, meters, and miles
Come here, hold my hand, tell me if these are things you have never seen before.
Tell me if these are things that pass you by, or if you keep still and watch.
Do you see them putting up the billboard, do you see them painting the road lanes at night?
Do you see them wait, or do they move along with you, as you make the last few trips?

Just keep going on and on, over and over, move along, keep going and going until I tell you to

STOP.

Slaughter

The process of slaughter begins by quickly
Killing
the animal. On its
Dying
breaths, the animal slowly goes under and succumbs to the blow or the slice. The
Draining
of the blood can now commence. Much of the blood is drained to keep the meat from
Spoiling
during the
Aging
process. The meat is then cured and aged by
Hanging
the carcasses on meat hooks suspended above ground. The
Curing
of the meat gives it a more distinct flavor and more tender texture.
Packing
the meat is done in such a way that microorganisms avoid
Infecting
the flesh with potentially fatal diseases. The meat is then prepared for
Shipping
to markets, where the products are bought by customers for
Eating.

The Runaway

The runaway passed by me one night

I can feel her pain as she sprinted by

She kept running, I don’t know where she’s going

Maybe I should follow her along the way.

The runaway kept on, not looking back

With no moment to pause or a break for breath

I was looking way ahead, to see how’s she going

And if she’ll ever falter along the way.

The runaway was fast, I tried to keep pace

Along curves, straights, and every alley and corner

I kept thinking to myself, wondering where she’s going

Asked myself if she ever knows her way.

The runaway leaves a trail of blood

I move on, and leave a trail of tears

Knowing, as she takes strides to where she’s going

I pause, and I stop to take the other way.

It all started with a little kiss
As I light your fire
And burn in your light in the dark

Knowing this may be the first breath I’ll take, I take you in.

In between, those triumphant smiles
As you consume my mind
And grace spirits and muses in my soul.

Feeling this may be the best breath I’ll take, I take you in deeper.

At long last, the final huff
Watching you disappear into a haze
You turn blue, gray… and vanish forever.

Realizing this may be the last breath I’ll take, I let you go slowly.

Until then, I will live and die, just for your breath.

Unconsoled

Stars glow
Tracing faint shadows
Across the sky

Just like the Universe, unconsoled.

Flowers bloom
The smell of their perfume
Carried through the air
But for every moment they blossom
They shrivel up under the might of sunshine
And one day end up dry.

Just like Nature, unconsoled.

Life begins
The way things are
Are never the way they should be
Until we start to realize that everything ends
In a beautiful dream

They, the weary

Cogs in the wheel of the grand machine
Where all work’s compensation

Thoughts in chaos
